How to Reset Linksys Router

Having trouble with your Linksys router? If you can’t access your router web based setup page or forgot your router password. And you want to reset your linksys router to its default factory settings.

So how to do that?

To do that you need to press and hold the reset button for approx 10 seconds.

Note: Resetting your Linksys router to its default factory settings will also reset your router password as well. The default linksys router password is admin and for username leave the field blank. This is the common default linksys username and passwords for almost every Linksys router model.

Things to note before resetting your Linksys Router

Make sure that the LED power light in your router is blinking when you press the Reset Button. It shows that the router is being reset properly.

The position of the reset button may be different depending upon the model of the router you have. Old Linksys routers may require pressing and holding the button for 30 seconds to complete the reset process which is also known as 30 30 30 method of resetting Linksys router. When you complete the reset process unplug and re-plug the power adaptor again.

Resetting your Router Using web based setup page

Steps to reset your Linksys router using the web based setup page.

  • Access your router web based page

  • Then click the administration tab and then click on the Factory Defaults sub tabs.

  • Now under the Factory defaults section click on the Restore factory default icon and that’s it.

Whenever you reset your router, after resetting it to default settings make sure to re configure it according to your internet service.
